The House

I am a one - room house. It is very cozy, and the walls are covered with drawers of all sizes. They are filled with everything I know, love, and think about. When I need something, I pull it out of its proper drawer.

Often, the things on my mind end up scattered all over the floor, cluttering my house. When this happens, I take all of the good, important things and return them to their drawers for safekeeping, while the bad things that have gotten in I sweep out the door.

In the middle of the house, right in the center, is a chair. It is kind of fancy, but also very comfortable. This is the throne of my life. Whatever sits on the chair is what my life is centered around. I try to keep Jesus on the chair, but sometimes I shove him off and put something else there; relationships, schoolwork, or something else entirely. When I realize this, I repent and tidy my house. Whatever has been enthroned comes off the chair and goes into its proper drawer.

Then I go to the door of my heart, and usher in Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I lead Him over to the chair and sit Him down. I sit down on the floor in order to listen to His wisdom, but He takes my hand and draws me onto His lap. And the house is put to right.

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
